Jeff Wolin & Jennifer Greenburg their collaboration for "Photography & _____"

Jeffrey Wolin & Jennifer Greenburg discuss their collaborative piece "Still Life: A Coronavirus Dialog, 2020" that they made during quarantine for our current exhibition "Photography & _____". The obstacle of collaborative work, done without the ability to meet, had to be overcome. They met via Zoom every week while mostly making photographs by ourselves in isolation. When they began sharing images with one another, they were pleasantly surprised to discover how many seemed to pair up; they were having a symbiotic experience.

CASE Art Fund Joins Catherine Edelman Gallery!

We are excited to announce that CASE Art Fund has joined Catherine Edelman Gallery! What does this mean? It means that when you visit CEG, a portion of the lower level will be devoted to BriefCASE artists. BriefCASE is a selection of limited editioned photographs by CASE photographers. Starting in September, visitors will be able to see these photographs, read about the organizations that CASE donates to, and support photography with a mission.

CEG Launches Saturday Gallery Tours!

CEG is excited to launch our Saturday Gallery Tours in partnership with Sol Chicago! Director Juli Lowe will be giving private tours of the exhibition on view on Saturdays at 11:00 am, discussing the featured artists and themes represented in the show. Each participant will get $2 off a drink at Sol Chicago, a healthy smoothie and drink cafe in West Town! Although these tours are free, registration is required as we are limiting each tour to six people. Physical distancing guidelines will be followed, and all visitors are required to wear a face mask to enter the gallery. We are looking forward to providing an additional way for our audience to actively engage with the artwork on view!

Terry Evans & Aimée Beaubien discuss their collaborative piece "With the Bur Oak, 2020"

Terry Evans and Aimée Beaubien discuss their piece "With the Bur Oak, 2020," which is currently on view for "Photography & _____." The two artists met once before the lock down and very quickly landed on a bur oak tree as their subject. They took their time meandering around how their visualized gestures might come together to embrace this 300-year-old tree. A photo-montage grew to envision far reaching winter branches overhead with a sprawling root system underground.

CEG will open the Fall season with What is Home? on Friday, September 11 from 12-7pm

"What is Home?" brings together work by Keliy Anderson-Staley, Omar Imam and Rubén Martín de Lucas. All three artists create work that invites us into different physical spaces that challenge the definition of home. The show opens September 11 and runs through October 31, 2020. To avoid crowds, the opening reception will be from noon – 7:00 pm on Friday, September 11.

Clarissa Bonet & Natalie Krick discuss their piece "Palm Perplexity"

For our current exhibition "Photography & _____," Clarissa Bonet and Natalie Krick collaborated cross the country to create their dynamic piece "Palm Perplexity, 2020." Over the past few months, they have passed photographs back and forth, between Seattle and Chicago, altering the images with each exchange.
