Forgotten,
discarded, or simply unnoticed objects surround us all the time. Through
the targeted focus of the camera these isolated things become the center
of their current environment. These objects which may have previously
been unrelated to anything around them now can be shown as part of a
group with shared traits. Whether an insect wing found on the ground
or a piece of garbage left floating in a puddle, they are now connected.
Not connected simply by being overlooked everyday objects, but a connection
maintained through placement within their environment, or a similar
function and purpose they both have, or formerly had. For some it is
more the form which they take or just the feeling they emit, and for
others it simply may be the way they fit within frame created by the
borders of the negative. All of these images though have the equal sensation
of floating, being weightless, or suspended in their world. For some
it is quite literal, for others it may be more poetic. At once these
objects become both the sole center of attention, and part of a unified
group. |
