Jim Hultquist

I am a stage lighting designer by training, and the more time I spent photographing the designs, scratches sand bent corners of the hard-bound books, the more I wanted the light to radiate out of the texts, just as the ideas radiate from the book’s pages. The name “Cognitio Inluminaire” roughly translates to “Illumination of the Mind,” and this is how I imagine the books actively coming to life, by revealing truth to the open mind, the way shafts of morning sunlight reveals a landscape.
