| Having
grown up in Chicago, I have always been fascinated by architecture,
especially those industrial shells that still cover the landscape. Of
particular interest is when these man-made structures transition into
ruins; when entropy ensues. Buildings both support the energy of life
as well as develop one of their own. They too have a finite existence,
eventually succumbing to the natural forces affecting us all. Though
some consider this stage of disintegration to be unattractive and disgraceful
– something to be hidden or demolished – I feel that even
in decay things can still be beautiful. Seeing these transitions, whether
they are graceful or inelegant, remind us of our own mortality. My goal
is to capture these moments.
