![]() Another fine mess The 17th century Dutch painter Jan Steen specialised in scenes of domestic chaos - to the extent that "a Jan Steen household" became a byword for a messy home. American photographer Julie Blackmon cites Steen as the source of her Domestic Vacations project, though, as the oldest of nine children and mother of three, Blackmon hardly lacks personal inspiration when it comes to rowdy households. Blackmon's sisters, nieces, nephews and children all feature in her digitally constructed scenes. Amidst the chaos, the little terrors manage to exude some charm - though their parents may disagree.
